[ESG] CJ ONSTYLE: A Digital Pop-up Saving the Distance of 13 Laps Around the Earth
While physical pop-up stores are powerful branding tools, they have long been criticized for their inherent environmental inefficiency—generating massive carbon footprints and industrial waste within just two weeks. XROO, in collaboration with CJ ONSTYLE, is redefining the industry standard by converting these 'disposable expenses' into 'sustainable digital assets.' We are proud to release XROO’s first ESG Report, demonstrating how high-fidelity technology provides a strategic solution to the retail industry’s environmental challenges.
1. [#Environment] Zero Waste and Significant Carbon Reduction 🌱
Physical pop-ups generate vast amounts of industrial waste—wood, plastic, and banners—during demolition. XROO’s digital pop-ups, however, produce Zero Waste.
Digital Curation Saving 6 Trees: We achieved a 100% digital transition for all brochures and guides. By preventing the consumption of over 48,000 sheets of paper, we preserved approximately 6 trees (based on an average of 1.2 brochures per visitor).
Preventing 6.1 tCO₂e of Carbon Emissions: By eliminating the construction and demolition phases, we cut carbon emissions at the source. This is equivalent to the amount of carbon absorbed by 1,000 young pine trees in a single year.
2. [#Social] "Regional Equality" Saving 520,000km in Travel Distance 🤝
This project was designed so that anyone, anywhere in the world, could enjoy the same premium brand experience without needing to visit trendy districts like Seongsu or Hannam in Seoul. This provides a practical solution to closing the gap in information and experience.
A Carbon Footprint Saving 13 Laps Around the Earth: By having 40,000 visitors access the space digitally rather than traveling to a physical site, we reduced total travel distance by 520,000km (based on an average round-trip of 13km). This drastically prevented atmospheric pollution caused by unnecessary transportation.
Inclusive Infrastructure Lowering Barriers: The CJ ONSTYLE digital pop-up is accessible to everyone regardless of physical condition or location. This realizes the "Social Inclusion" that XROO’s digital transformation strives for.
3. [#Governance] Transparent Data: Predictable and Sustainable Business 🏛️
ESG management is not just about environmental protection; it includes an efficient management system for resource allocation.
Business Efficiency: We prevented the waste of marketing resources by converting one-time event expenses into permanent digital assets.
